Log Cabin Dreams
I saw this design on Simply Quilts a few years ago. I had the episode saved on my DVR for the longest time. Luckily, I also drafted the pattern onto graph paper because we upgraded to high definition TV and my DVR was exchanged before I even thought of recording my saved shows. I lost several episodes of Simply Quilts that I liked to refer back to.
This is a Fran Morgan design which uses chenille to add texture to the quilt. You can purchase this pattern at her online store, Fabric Cafe. I am making this quilt for my daughter; I started it in January 2009. I plan on altering it slightly; I am adding a white border and changed the hearts to butterflys and the single flowers to a double flower that matches her room decor.
Below are picture of how it is going so far. You can see how the chenille is made.
3/23/09 Update – the quilt top is finished and pin basted!!!! Once I practice free motion quilting for a bit, I will quilt it.
