Crochet Spider Web
October 21, 2012 in Crochet
I found this cute little pattern for a crocheted spider web and had to give it a try. http://bobbilewin.blogspot.com/2011/09/crochet-spider-web-pattern.html
There are a few of these patterns around the web. What attracted me to this one it is like a web an orb web spider makes. We currently have a Yellow and Black Garden spider making its home on our front walk. The kids have been fascinated with it and check up on it daily.
Back to Bobbi’s pattern. It is really simple and easy to make. One web took me about 20 minutes and we all know how slow I stitch – so you could probably do it in 10 minutes. They come out very small, so I think they would be great to hang around in multiple spots around the house or an accent to a candy bowl.
Her pattern did not say what kind of yarn is best or what size needle. So, the read one, I used sock weight yarn with a size four crochet hook. I also tried bedspread weight thread with a size 4 steel crochet hook. The smaller thread made a smaller web – of course, but I liked the look better. The pattern is very simple and I am sure you can keep going around and around to make it whatever finished size you need.
So check out the pattern and give it a try. Share you picture – I would love to see how yours turns out.
