You could win a Fiskars Rotary Cutter and Cutting Mat.

This is a reminder of the ongoing Recycling Challenge.  The post with all the information can be found at http://www.sewstitchcreate.com/2012/10/15/recycling-re-purpose-challenge-contest/

There are 5 days left in the Challenge, what are you working on?  What ideas do you have?  Will you finish on time?

I have been working on my moldy boat cover tote bags (funny name, I know).  I can’t tell you enough how happy I am with how the first one came out.  I went looking for a pattern and found a free one on Pattern Spot.  This pattern was soooooo easy and I love the look of the bag.  As you know, I have been trying to use up all my left over fabric and this pattern was perfect for some of my larger pieces.

Here are the after pictures of the first bag I have done.  I doubt I will get anymore done this week – I have way too much on my plate, or rather sewing table, right now.  But I believe I have enough boat cover to make 3 or 4 more.  I am thinking about giving them as gifts for Christmas – using them as a gift bag!

Do you remember what that grey fabric looked like when I started?  Click Here for a reminder.  I am really enjoying this challenge.  I just love the idea of taking something that might otherwise be thrown out and making it into something useful and nice.  I was hoping to get around to making a rag quilt out of old jeans – but I ran out of time.  Thanks to Jo-Ann’s Black Friday sales, I was able to pick up the flannel backing for it.
