My Janome is Broke Down AGAIN!!

Well, we are at 9 times in the shop and counting. Remember – it has only been 18 months since the first repair.
This past weekend I was stitching away and the dreaded noise happened again. The bobbin case spun and pressed against the top of holder. I stopped as quick as I could. When I opened it up, the case was in good shape. I could find nothing wrong that would have caused the jam this time. I checked the threading of the machine and everything was in place.
So, I put everything back together, re-threaded and started again.
IT ONLY SEWED IN REVERSE!!! But only for 15 stitches or so and stopped.
I re-threaded it – only because the computer screen told me too. the machine was threaded fine.
But then, the feed dogs stopped working. They now go up and down, but not forward or reverse.
So, I am off to the dealer again…….UGH!!!

Brye,
Thanks for your heads up on Janome. I know there are lemons in every genre, but we have a lousy dealer here locally – notorious, in fact – I have no idea how they stay in business (perhaps it’s the vacumn cleaners). I am in the market for a new one, but a Janome it will not be! And yes, I think it’s time, more than time, to make a huge fuss. You need a new machine, period.
Brye,
Maybe it is time to take a cd of your podcast and maybe some supporting paperwork into the dealership you bought the machine from and then go directly to Janome. I for one would be someone to write to Janome I won’t ever buy a Janome because of your bad experience. Sometimes a little publicity goes a long way. Janome can’t control their bad dealers, but when their reputation for making a BAD machine is effected they may come around. I would hope they actually care about their reputation.
Let us know if you want us to start writing letters. No one should spend that kind of money on a dud.
What really bothers me about your Janome troubles is not so much that you got a lemon – they’re out there – but that Janome doesn’t stand behind its product. makes a person think……….
Hay Girl….I had a Janome 10000. It gave me fits with a decent satin stitch. I finally demanded they ship it back to factory to fix it. It was shipped back at their cost and it sewed like a dream for a year. Then I got Bernina fever and sold the (working fine Janome to a friend. You might tell these folks you have a podcast and a blog and your situtation with Janome products is reaching many, many sewists. Ok, hate to say/ think this…. but have your husband wear a wife beater tee shirt while he explains to dealer that a whining wife is not what he expected when he laid down cash for sewing machine. No shelly beth
What did they say this time?
Or did you give an update on your most recent episode? I haven’t listened to the latest one. I’m sure loving that you are back with us now and doing podcasts every week. I love you doing them from your car…good idea! Multitask!
I am so sorry to hear you are having such difficulties. I love my Janome sewing machine and Janome dealer. I agree with Lisa, that you try find a exceptional Janome dealer. My dealer would be appalled by your experience.
Oh Brye, I am so sorry this happened to you again! When you didn’t mention anything on the recent podcasts, I thought maybe your problems were over. I sure hope you can get some *real* help, instead of your dealer’s condescending attitude. Please keep us updated on what happens.
I am sorry to hear about your machine. Your machine gives so much trouble that it creates bad dreams. I wish there was some responsible Janome dealership around to help you out to make all the problems go away forever. If I had your machine I don’t think I would be sewing ever again!
How frustrating for you! I would be so upset.
Oh No Brye! Sorry to hear that. I can not imagine how annoyed you may be. Everytime a friend tells me they’re looking for a new machine I tell them NOT to buy a Janome.
And the service you have received almost sounds just as bad as the machine itself.

Hi Brye,
I would like to suggest that you call an exceptional Janome dealer that may be able to help with repair. These folks are really great and maybe they can give you some information to help over the phone. Ken’s Sewing Cener.
