Episode 51 ~ Where have I been?
Listen to the podcast of this postThis episode I catch you up on what I have been up to and why I have been off the air for the last two months.
Thank you to everyone who sent well wishes, wondering where I was. I really appreciate everyone getting in touch.
Check out this beautiful black and white quilt that Cindy made. You know how much I love black and white quilts. This double wedding ring is spectacular. Not only do I love the use of solids along with a pattern, but the edges are amazing. I really need to try something like this out.
Amy Peterson from the Quilter’s Notebook won the Frolic patten – please send me you address.
The winner of the episode 50 raffle is Sue. Please send me your address.
The short story of where I have been is that I have had massive computer problems. Between work, family, and a separate project, i had very little time to do the work to fix my computer. It was so corrupted that I had to reformat it by hand!
Not much crafting happened during this time. I did finish the drunkards path quilt.
This is how I did my mitered binding
I made an iPad case using fused felt.
I promise next time that I will get back to the normal format and will have a scheduled topic. Talk to you soon.

When I had problems with the IRS and I went round and round with them, I finally contacted my US Representative. He was quite helpful in putting me in touch with the right people who could help me figure out what paperwork the IRS needed from me.
Hi Brye. Your quilt and the mitered border look great. I really like your Ipad cover. I’m hoping you do another one so that you share the pattern with us (smile). I especially like the embroidered initials. How did you do that on your sewing machine? My sewing machine has fonts and I tried to use it to sew something on the front of a quilt but it jammed up badly. I think because I tried to do it through the batting and backing it was too thick to move as easily as it needed to. Good to have you back podcasting.

Hi Brye, so nice to hear your voice, you are so calming to listen to and I didn’t realise how much I missed hearing you until I listened to your podcast. Don’t be gone long again. LOL. The black and white quilt is lovley, she did a wonderful job and should be so proud of herslef. Your drunkards is great, you made it so differently to how it normally is done and it is a wonderful finish, I’m sure it will be loved for a long time. Your ipad cover is great also. I’m thinking that next year my big purchase will be an ipad. I wasn’t sure, I use a desktop computer, no mac or iphone etc, so it is all new to me, but hearing you love it has convinced me that I will get one. So now to start saving. I could even make my own bag before I purchase it, that would push me along with the saving wouldn’t it… Great to hear all the goings on with the kids, and hope Morgan is getting more out of her gifted class now. She is so lucky to have that opportunity. Take care and can’t wait to hear from you soon. Vanessa (Aust)
I enjoyed hearing about your summer. I liked the double wedding ring quilt. I have never seen one with a scalloped edge. I do find the black and white combination very intriguing.
Your drunkards path turned out very well. I like how you did your border. When you find out answers to your question, “how do you know how much quilting does a quilt need or when is a quilt over quilted”, will you do a podcast on this topic? I would really like hear more on this area.
It is so great to have you back podcasting. The Drunkard’s Path quilt turned out really nice. I may have to try one. Thanks for posting pictures of my quilt.
So glad you’re back! Missed you! Your quilt is great!
Brye,
So glad you are back! Love the Drunkard’s Path quilt! It looks like you satin stitched around parts of it, or was that an embroidery design?
The pictures of your ipad case looked like leather until I clicked on the picture. (I am not finished listening to your podcast yet.)
Your daughter sounds alot like my daughter. My dd is only 5, but is beginning to read just about every word she sees! You have your hands full, as I am sure you already know.
Thank you for your podcasts. They inspire me so much!
Kerstin
Hi Brye! So glad to hear your voice. I think your quilting looks nice on the drunkard’s path quilt. I am sure it will soften up when washed.
I really like the Drunkard’s Path quilt – nice job.
