Charm Quilt Top

Posted by Brye Lynn on Jun 21, 2010 in Quilting |

Sorry I have been so silent for a while.  I am doing fine and feeling well.  This is the first year that Morgan is home for the Summer.  Every other year was just like any other day because she was never in school; but now it is a true summer break.  I think I am having a hard time adjusting.  You know she is a non-stop jabber mouth; making the nights and weekends a flurry of activity and conversations.  I can’t seem to get a free moment to myself.

Anyway, this is the quilt top I made from 2 charm packs.  Nonnie tells me the pattern is called a “disappearing nine patch”.  I got the idea from Snippets of a Quilter.

One charm pack was a gift from Dawn; it was Moda’s  – a day in the country.  The other was just a pack I picked up on clearance at JoAnn’s.

Here is the picture of my completed miniature quilt top.  I have this one all ready to quilt.  I plan on quilting it by hand.

Hi Brye, love the charm quilt and that dissappearing 9 patch is a wonderful pattern, I see it often and always looks fantastic. Can’t wait to see the hand quilting. Can’t offer any suggestions for Morgan sorry, she certainly is a livewire, but that is a good things, she has lots of energy to learn, espcially as she is very very talented and gifted, she needs to keep herself occupied and obviously loves to hear her own voice (LOL). I hope she enjoys her summer and reads lots and lots of her new books. Vanessa

I just ordered in some Christmas charm packs and I googled for a quilt pattern and I came up with this great pattern from Snippets of a Quilter. I thought “I’m going to do that it looks awesome”. Then I listen to your podcast and sure enough, you are talking about the same pattern! Yours turned out great, I’ll send you a pick of mine when I’m done.
    Still loving the podcast!

I really love your quilt. I’ll have to check into doing that pattern myself.

We have our six year old grandson two days a week. He never stops talking, asking questions and needing attention. I know, only two days a week. I do know how you feel, and they do grow up, only to bring more little motor mouths home to you. Good luck Brye. Love the little quilt. It’s gorgeous. Can’t wait to see your hand quilting.

Hi Brye! Disappearing Nine Patch is on my “to do” list. If I could just get caught up on all my other UFOs!
