Episode 48 ~ Water Soluable Thread
Listen to the podcast of this postToday we talked about Water Soluble Thread.
Thank you to everyone who left comments, sent emails, called me or left iTunes reviews. I really appreciate it.
Check out this quilt top from Kathleen. She calls it Starry Night. By now she probably has this finished. These picture are on her design wall and she is showing us three different ways she was contemplating putting it together. The colors are her son’s college colors. I REALLY like the blocks, they are similar to a log cabin.
Leave a comment and let Kathleen know what you think. My favorite is the first one.

Hey Brye,
I wanted to see your pattern for the charm pack quilt you made. Could you post the link?
Thanks,
Cindy
Kathleen, I love your quilt! I love the first photo, too. The way it kind of makes a circle in the center. Please let us know which one you chose!!
Thanks so much for all the kind words, Brye! Would you believe, this quilt is still in progress and my final arrangement was actually a variation of the first one. I’ll send another pic 8] The blocks are called quarter log cabin. They are with from 21/2 inch strips and the pattern in Eleanor Burns _Still Stripping_.
Back again… IF you cut your 9 patch block horizontally and vertically in half…. The nine patch pattern you used is called DISAPPEARING NINE PATCH… It is fun and great for baby quilts.

At the bottom of this link I have pictures of the quilts we made a while back for charity using the DISAPPEARING NINE PATCH PATTERN.

I have the Ricky Tims Grand Fanilie (sp) DVD on Machine Quilting and he shows using water solubule thread for machine quilting and bobbin work, also basting the quilt(by Hand) . He does very ornate quilting and bobbin work. He does it from the back side using water soluable Freezer paper (RICKY’S STABLE STUFF) He marks his stable stuff with the design. Irons the SStuff on to the area he wants to quilt then sews it using the water soluable thread. He says this helps him practice his design and machine quilting. He later bastes his quilt together using the water soluable thread. He then quilts the quilt following the design he put in using the water soluable thread.
I think it is a lot of work but he wins prizes and I never do.
HAPPY QUILTING…
