Today we talked about marking tools

Thank you to everyone who left comments on iTunes, on the website, or through email this week.

  • Cindy, ruthann, Debby, Lisa
  • Melanie – thanks for the knitting tips

Emily sent us PICTIRES!!!  She just finished this baby quilt – it came out better than she thought it would while making it.  Don’t you love the wonky squares and how the binding ties into the colors!  Leave a comment and let Emily know what you think.

Thank you, Vanessa. No it is not a uniform, its an outfit I picked up at JC Penny’s. Wish our schools did uniforms.

Thanks for the info on your tool preference.

  • Vanessa says:

Hi, Emily your quilt is beautiful, nice and bright for a new little person. Brye, Morgan is soooooo cute, love her outfit for school, is it a uniform or her own clothes?? Purple is my colour. Marking tools, well I use a quilters pencil, the clicker sort, it has it’s own eraser, and also the Bohin’s chalk pencil, with the refils, you mentioned you didn’t buy one that was around $14, so I think that is this one, but I love it.

  • Brye Lynn says:

Wow! Thanks for all the wonderful comments about marking tools. Things I never knew or would have never thought of.

    Love it!

  • Debby says:

Me again…BryeLynn, you’re so right about the crocheted blanket in the previous post. It is amazingly beautiful!

  • Debby says:

After I listened to your info about marking tools I thought everyone would like to know about a problem
I heard that happened to a quilt guild member. During “show & tell” she mentioned that she used a yellow marking pencil & it did not come out as it should have. There was quite a bit of mumbling around the room and I heard many other members say that you should never use a yellow pencil. I’ve never used one myself but I think I’ll stay away from them.

Brye, Your daughter is adorable. Thank you for another great podcast.

Emily, your quilt is great. Keep up the good work.

  • maureen says:

be careful with pink and blue chalk – it doesn’t always wash out of some fabrics as you say TEST FIRST

  • Cherry says:

Brye, your daughter looks so cute! Hope you both have a great year!
Emily, your quilt is so cute, did you use a pattern? I’ve wanted to make one of these for a while, any tips?
My favorte marking tool is “Miracle Chalk” – it comes off with a steam iron.

  • Brye Lynn says:

Thank you so much for the nice comments about the podcast and my babygirl – It keeps me going to know that you listen each week.

Patricia – don’t be afraid. Get yourself some muslin and go for it. It is a lot of fun.

  • Patricia says:

Thanks again for another fun podcast. I just took a class on machine quilting because I made a gorgeous log cabin quilt for my daughter and I’m afraid to quilt it and ruin it. Will send pic of the top. Anyway part of the class was on marking the quilt. What a quandary.
I think stitch in the ditch might be the ticket. Patricia

  • Debby L says:

Your daughter is so cute! I love the baby quilt. I’ve made and gifted 6 baby quilts so far this year! (All for newborns except for one quilt for a 19 month old)

Thanks for the new episode – Will be listening to it tonight! I really really appreciate all the work you put into the blog and podcast!!

Your daughter is adorable. I love the baby quilt. I have a friend who uses her scraps on almost every quilt to make the binding. Love it! I hope to have you some pictures this week of my Lightning Strikes Bargello and the Block of the Month I am working on. Have a great week!
